Image Entertainment Officially Announces Its HD DVD Line-up

Image Entertainment has announced that on November 14, it will debut the following 3 concert titles on HD DVD in North America. Each will be priced at $24.99 SRP. In Japan, all 3 titles will be available on November 15. The discs will be authored, compressed and replicated by Memory Tech in Japan. (Memory Tech is also a major proponent of HD DVD format.)
  • Chicago/Earth, Wind & Fire: Live at the Greek
  • Heart: Alive in Seattle
  • Barry Manilow: Manilow Live!
According to the VideoBusiness article and I quote here, the reason for Image's decision to release titles on HD DVD:

"Image was impressed by an upcoming $150 million HD DVD marketing campaign. Also, HD DVD title production costs are less than that of Blu-ray".
